After having observed the entertainment industry on a personal level for almost 6 years, it seems to me that women in that industry are expected not to take the sentence "I want to marry you" seriously, even from men to whom they have been married for years. The one exception to this is when those women think about sleeping with people who aren't their husbands; that's when they are expected to feel bound by their marriage vows on pain of public humiliation, professional derailment, and, by husbands who either think they love their kids or want the world to think that they do when really they just want to hurt their ex-wives, loss of child custody.
It also seems to me that most of the women in the entertainment industry who refuse to be degraded or to be degrading to women generally and who don't have relatives or other connections protecting them are collectively known as "Unemployed," or "We'd like a table by the window."
