Nobody without the military of an industrialized country can fight the military of an industrialized country and win.
If the goal of the Second Amendment is for citizens to be able to form an army to fight their own government if that government turns despotic, then nothing less than citizens being able to get permits to buy nuclear weapons can fulfill the intention of that Amendment. Since citizens SHOULD NOT be able to buy nuclear weapons, does that mean that there's no reason for anyone other than the military and maybe the police to have guns?
It seems to me that this is a possible argument for at least banning all automatic weapons for anyone other than the military and maybe the police. I don't really know; I have not studied this issue.
