I didn't even have a knife, which is not that unusual a weapon for a homeless person to have.
I'm sure that I never intimidated people with my size. I lived, and was never permanently injured despite being knocked around a few times, because I knew that I was in danger all the time, because I tried to make intelligent decisions, because I showed people that I wasn't trying to start a fight, and because I was never intimidated into submission by people who tried to start fights with me.
I am not an expert about gun laws, but what is the use of citizens being able to have guns when the government has missiles that can level cities? If the right to bear arms is supposed to be about people being able to organize a physical defense if the government turns tyrannical, that right lost all of its power to protect democracy as soon as guns were obsolete for anything other than personal combat.
Guns are not being used, could never be used, to stop the total usurpation of power by the government; they're being used to kill innocent and unsuspecting people.
