There are too many people who are part of that industry who are uneducated, ignorant and vicious for it not to be detrimental to society for them to have that access.
If, at some time, it is a requirement that people have a college degree to work in that industry, it might be less terrible for some of the people from it to be politically influential.
You don't even need a high school degree to be a multimillionaire in that industry; I think the machine of it probably prefers that people don't have those degrees, because when they do, their standards tend to be higher.
