Why don't we stop paying the pharmaceutical industry to falsely diagnose people?

June 10, 2016

That's the address for a page published by the Social Security Administration.  It documents disability benefits paid in 2014.

Table 6 of that page says that there were 12,852 recipients of monthly disability benefits for "Childhood and adolescent disorders not elsewhere classified" in 2014.  That classification is one of 8 classifications listed under "Mental Disorders."

Table 7 says that the average, monthly benefit paid to recipients diagnosed with "Childhood and adolescent disorders not elsewhere classified" was $734.93 in 2014.

12,852 x 734.93 x 12 =

$113,343,844.30

That's not including the kids diagnosed with the other 7 diagnoses, along with the adults who have those diagnoses.  There doesn't seem to be a table that specifically says how many children are being diagnosed with mood disorders and schizophrenia and everything else; that's probably deliberate.  Who would believe that all of those kids have mental illnesses?  People wouldn't believe it, because it's not true. Case by case, parents give in to the lies.  Some parents don't care what the stigma and medications do to their kids; they just want the government money.  Some parents don't want to stigmatize and medicate their kids, but they don't know how else to have enough money.

The pharmaceutical industry has manipulated parents into thinking that parenting shouldn't require as much time, attention, knowledge and effort as it does.  It has manipulated schools and teachers into thinking that teaching shouldn't require those things, either.  It has manipulated psychiatry, psychology and insurance companies into thinking all of that, and worse.

The pharmaceutical industry's goal is to get the entire family on drugs.  It hopes that you feel anxious and depressed because of having to take care of your ADHD, schizophrenic child who can't sleep, eat and cry on the schedule that you'd prefer.  That one drug makes your kid cry and another one makes her refuse food while the third one keeps her awake unless she takes the fourth one for sleep is something you think you can do nothing about except to complain about it all with other parents online who were also manipulated into thinking what you think and feeling how you feel.

Who do you think gets paid for the drugs that kids are being made to take from the time they're two years old?

The pharmaceutical industry has successfully manipulated society, the medical establishment and the government into believing that millions of people need prescription medications that not only aren't necessary but are bad for them.

Why not stop paying the pharmaceutical industry to take advantage of people who are having difficulty balancing their lives?

Why not stop direct-to-consumer advertising by the pharmaceutical industry, and all of that industry's other corrupt and abusive behavior?
