Are there people who think that homeless shelters are full of middle-class white people?
I was homeless from 2011-2013 and 2014-2016. I almost never met other homeless people who had ever been anything other than poor in their lives. There are a lot of people who aren't white and who were never middle-class in homeless shelters in the Boston area. I have lived with people whose lives are the proof of racial and socioeconomic inequality, and I have done that for years.
There are a lot of things that I don't know about what it's like not to be white, but I'm not totally ignorant about it.
