Can Ms. Eramo and Rolling Stone settle out of court for an undisclosed amount, and can the records be sealed so that the written agreement and the terms of the settlement between Rolling Stone and Ms. Eramo are not accessible to anyone or admissible as evidence in other lawsuits?
As far as I'm concerned, Ms. Eramo has one sound contention in this case, which is that Rolling Stone did not have to publish her name and picture when the University of Virginia refused Ms. Erdely permission to interview Ms. Eramo before the article was published.
She might not even have that contention, since, according to the judge's ruling from September 22, 2016, Ms. Eramo gave an interview to the Columbia Journalism Review as part of the Columbia Journalism Review's investigation of the Rolling Stone article, which the University of Virginia did not authorize her to do.
