The texts from the night of September 28, 2012, indicate that the "they" who walked Jackie to her dorm did not include Ryan, which also indicates that all three of Jackie's former friends have lied to the court and to ABC News.
The texts between Jackie and Ryan from several days later indicate that he was going to have another date with Jackie, which he cancelled. It was a date for his birthday for which she had bought the concert tickets and the bus tickets for both of them. It was a date which he had accepted with her and not broken even after he had initially texted with "Haven Monahan." He only broke the date after she was assaulted.
She had no reason to lie about being raped, and she certainly had no reason to say she was raped in order to get Ryan's attention. Her purchase of concert tickets for a band that he liked and both of their bus tickets, and apparently also her wooing of him from the persona of Haven Monahan, had worked.
If Jackie was insecure, that could be why Drew targeted her. Ms. Erdely's notes describe that Jackie was surprised when Drew asked her for a date.
If Jackie told her friends that she was going to have a date with Haven Monahan, when it was Drew who took her to dinner, it was probably to continue to make Ryan somewhat jealous and also not to eliminate her option of dating Drew, since she couldn't know that Drew was going to take her to a fraternity that wasn't his and get her gang-raped. If she didn't know how to admit that Haven Monahan wasn't a real person without having them doubt that she was raped, it's understandable. It's also understandable that she would be emotionally devastated and needing not to be abandoned after the assault.
The Charlottesville Police Department's March 23, 2015 statement did everything that it could to obfuscate that they found Drew and knew that he was guilty.
Why was he an undergraduate at the University of Virginia in 2006 and then a junior at the University in 2012?
If he graduated at the end of the Spring semester of 2014, then he could have been a graduate student in the fall of 2014, which is relevant if you read Ms. Erdely's June 30, 2016 court filing. That filing also raises the question of whether the identity of Drew and also one of the Phi Kappa Psi members who raped her are both known to people whom Jackie had spoken to about the assault.
I have written about most of this before, although it wasn't until I reread some of the June 30, 2016 filing before the 20/20 broadcast that I realized that the real names both of Drew and one of the Phi Kappa Psi members who raped Jackie might be collectively known to Jackie's former confidantes. Those names might even be known to Ms. Erdely, who of course is too beleaguered by the lawsuits against her to tell anyone what those names are.
What the ABC News article from today fails to mention, and perhaps what the people who wrote the article don't know, is that Mr. Shapiro went to a private high school in Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech. I don't know why anyone thought that he would be impartial.
This is a picture of one of the first results for a Google search from tonight of the term "rolling stone uva":
This is the address for that article, which retells too many of the lies which have already been told for me to spend the time to confront them all:
This is the address for the first page of results for a Google search of the term "malice":
Does anyone other than me think that ABC News is malicious?
Also, why is yet another "Education Reporter," instead of a crime reporter or even a legal expert, writing for The Washington Post about the Rolling Stone case, and reprinting the mistakes that Mr. Shapiro made?
When is The Washington Post going to admit that it got this wrong, and that it intimidated Ms. Erdely, Jackie and Rolling Stone? That newspaper is The Washington Post; the newspaper that broke and covered the story that caused the resignation of a President, 40 years ago. Every reporter who works there has that standard to try to meet, which perhaps is why so many reporters and editors for that newspaper are dismally failing to meet even much less stringent standards.
I feel for Ms. Eramo, and it seems to me that Rolling Stone could have given her a pseudonym for the article since the University of Virginia refused to allow her to be interviewed by Rolling Stone before the article was printed. That refusal by the University of Virginia is THE ONLY REASON that I have said that a distinction might be appropriate to define between the damage done to her by the article and the damage done to Phi Kappa Psi.
Jackie was raped at the Phi Kappa Psi house.
