Politically powerful people, their children, their friends, their business associates; Ms. Erdely and Rolling Stone publicly criticized what are arguably the most powerful college rapists in the country, if not the world, because of the community that they are from and which surrounds the University of Virginia.
Those people don't want their sons to go to jail, and that's all there is to it.
