I think there's no time like the present to say this.
The evangelists who have ensnared you will say and do whatever they have to say or do to hold onto you. If they think that saying I'm wrong on Monday and saying I'm right on Tuesday will keep you donating to them and proselytizing for them, then that is what they'll say, regardless of how contradictory what they say is from one day to another. You are an irreplaceable source of money and publicity for them.
I know that it's difficult to think about people whom you feel helped you at a painful time in your life from a perspective other than what you thought about them when you needed support, hope and strength and they seemed to give you those things. What you might not have thought about is that some of the most important spiritual principles are that it is a human obligation to help others whenever we can, and that our helping other people incurs no debt from them. That's not a reason for people who are helped to be horrible to or uncaring about those who helped them; it's a reason to thank them, to end relationships that are exploitative, to think about whom and how to ask for help when you'll need it in the future (which everyone always does), and to think about how you can help others when they need it.
A person's relationship with spirituality is the only relationship that never ends. Some people care about the spiritual side of their lives and some don't. Some people are materially harmed for their spirituality and some people are materially rewarded for their contempt for spiritual principles; both types of people are respectively harmed and rewarded more often than the world has ever wanted to say.
Life has few guarantees; however, I can guarantee that there are a lot of people with whom you can talk about spirituality and religion. There is nowhere in the world where people don't think and talk about those things. There is not only one person to talk to, not only one book to read, not only one approach. Considering a lot of perspectives about what's important to you is smart.
