It's not my plan to be afraid of Mr. Trump or any of his friends.

December 13, 2016

There's no suggestion or criticism that I have offered him since he got elected that has had the goal of increasing my personal power.  I have said everything that I have said because I care about the United States and the world.

People who work for him should not be hacking my phone, but they are.  This continues a trend that the conglomerate is establishing that will destroy democracy.

That's a Tweet from Kanye West's Twitter.

I feel it is important not to get too close to Presidents, for several reasons:

-I like to be objective.

-The closer you are to powerful people, the more of a target you could be for people who don't like them, or for them if they get angry at you.

-I don't need to be associated with every decision that a President makes or everything that a President says, and vice versa.  The closer I am to anyone, the more that other people will see me and that person as being representative of each other.  I like having the freedom to say what I'm thinking without worrying that much about how it reflects on other people.

I'm sorry that Mr. Trump is interested in publicly associating with celebrities, particularly those who do crave power, who frequently demonstrate immaturity and aggression, and who don't have much of a track record of public service.  A President should care about how he uses his office and the power and publicity of that office.
