They're not "stupid"; the issue is that to be successful in that industry requires neither a formal education nor a lot of the type of work that helps people to know the world in nonacademic ways. That wouldn't necessarily be destructive to people outside the entertainment industry if it weren't also an industry which influences the thoughts, feelings, opinions and therefore behavior of the public, particularly of people who are too young to be discerning.
I think that many of them have resented me for saying that they ought to attend school, but if I thought they were stupid, I wouldn't suggest school. The nonacademic things that they don't get from their social and professional lives are perhaps more difficult for them to attain than a formal education would be, and I'm not sure what to say about that. I don't have additional time to spend thinking about it today.
