It is crucial for journalists not to deliberately mislead the public.
The conglomerate seems to have a double standard for male journalists in their 50s who promote rape culture and adolescent college women whose insecurities are easily recognized and exploited by rapists.
Sabrina Erdely WAS NOT trying to mislead anyone, or to harm the innocent.
There is no question that the Rolling Stone article was meticulous and conscientious, and that's not even to mention its accuracy and fairness by contrast to most of what the conglomerate media publishes and broadcasts every day.
Jackie was sexually assaulted; there is corroboration for what she said happened to her. The attacks on the Rolling Stone article are meant to discredit not only her account, but every criticism of the University of Virginia's procedures for preventing rape and punishing rapists. It's THE CONGLOMERATE that wants a sensationalistic story, of someone who lies about rape to get attention, of a female journalist who's a bad reporter, of multimillion-dollar lawsuits won by people falsely accused of rape and falsely accused of failing their professional obligations to help rape victims, of inappropriately punitive government agencies who try to make colleges and universities responsible for protecting their students from rape, relationship violence and murder.
The conglomerate wants the Rolling Stone article to be a cautionary tale for rape victims and all who want to help them; "Look at what happened to them. You'd better not tell anyone."
