People in the United States tend to dress badly.

January 8, 2016

Most women wear too much make-up.  Many people, men and women, have no style at all, except bad style.

I'm not saying that as a fashion icon.  Even if I had the time and money to buy a lot of clothes, I would not spend a lot more time thinking about what I wear than I do now.  I'd probably have to think about it less, actually, since it would be much less difficult for me to buy clothes and I wouldn't have to think about how to make the same few things look all right every week.

The only consensus that there seems to be among people in the United States about clothing and style is that everyone has to look the same while also having something about each individual sameness be a trademark.  You're supposed to care about what you look like enough to preclude anyone having anything to say about you that distinguishes you from other people other than following the general idea of looking "better" than someone else.

What's next in the Presidential race, "Who wore it better" sections in Time and Newsweek?

I have already talked about who I think the Republican candidate should be.  Marco Rubio's shoes have nothing to do with it, although I think it's probably true for men and women that footwear that a person wears all the time should be selected according to what's good for your health.
