A suggestion for people who think they don't have time to work and be good parents

June 10, 2016

Don't have a television.

I agree that there's not enough support for people who want to work and have families.  I don't agree that a middle-class lifestyle is something that is owed to people who don't really know what hard work is.

Also; people who are want to work a lot and get paid for it, and subsequently advance in their careers, and who don't want children, should not be placed at a disadvantage to people who decide that having children is a priority.  Life is full of difficult decisions; someone, male or female, who's spent 20 years hauling it at work should not be shunted to the office across from the bathroom so that someone who successfully demanded to have "I'm Every Woman" officially designated her theme song by her employer can get the corner office and spend all morning texting the final kid that she dropped off at college last week.

Some people really are fortunate and do have it all.  Most don't.  That's life.
