The attacks on Rolling Stone and Ms. Erdely don't seem to be helping "real victims" of sexual assault or preventing sexual assault, no matter what the University of Virginia or anyone else has tried to say about the disservice that "fake victims" and the people who try to help them have done to victims of "real rape."
It could be that the UVA rapists of 2015 and 2016 are hoping that they'll be able to sue their victims, publicly ruin their victims' lives, get called heroes, and get rich.
If I were a female student who were sexually assaulted, I'd ask anyone to whom I spoke about the assault if I could record the conversation, and I'd say the dates of the assault and of the conversations during those conversations.
