There's no guarantee that someone who threatens to stalk, rape and kill me will choose me as his target if he follows through on the threat to stalk me. He (and his friends) could stalk me, and then decide not to rape and kill me because enough people know who I am that there might be an investigation if I disappear. What they might decide to do instead is to abduct, rape and kill another homeless woman whom they see while they're stalking me.
Homeless people disappear frequently. Society doesn't care, so they are never heard from or about again.
