Has anyone asked Laura Dunn to talk about this quote attributed to her by Rolling Stone?

July 24, 2016

That's a picture of part of the Rolling Stone article.

I have always thought that the Rolling Stone article described Dean Eramo as part of a dysfunctional school system, and not as someone who was trying to hurt Jackie or anyone else.

The court filing by Dean Eramo's attorney this past Friday doesn't seem to be disproving anything that the Rolling Stone article said about the way that rape survivors who were counseled by Dean Eramo felt about her.

There's also the question of fear; if the Rolling Stone article hadn't gotten attacked, would any of the former University of Virginia students who were specifically named in the article as being sources for Ms. Erdely be attacking the article and Ms. Erdely?  College is not just college; it is also a network after graduation.  The more prestigious the school, the more influential the network, and the more pressure there is not to criticize the school or that network.

One of the motivations of people who attend prestigious schools is to be able to say that they attended them.  To be in public conflict with those schools after graduation severely diminishes the chances of graduates being able to access the schools' resources and benefit from their prestige.  Some institutions are powerful enemies; everything that has happened since the Rolling Stone article was published proves that the University of Virginia is that kind of enemy.

The people who were named as sources for the article also have the media, public opinion, the government and politicians to contend with.  That's a lot of pressure.
