"We were doing the best we could in a very difficult climate."

November 5, 2016

I think that quote from Ms. Eramo, during her interview for the 20/20 broadcast, supports the idea that there is institutional indifference toward sexual assault victims at every college and university in the United States.

"Difficult climate" is not far from being a synonym for "hostile environment," which is a legal term having to do with discrimination and harassment.  That term is applicable to colleges and universities where unequal treatment results from gender discrimination and/or socioeconomic discrimination.  Not every student at every wealthy school is rich; Jackie isn't.

These are pictures of part of the Rolling Stone article:

"The first-ever sexual-assault summit for college administrators."

The first?  There never was one before, anywhere in the United States?
