At one time in American history, there was no legal way for black people to sit in segregated restaurants.

It took them doing it for it to finally be legally recognized as their right, and for the crime of white people killing black people because they feel like it to begin to cease to be considered by white society to be a right of white people.  

Aaron Swartz, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden and people like them did what they did illegally because there was no other way.  

When the law is bad, you have to change the law.
