The federal government doesn't care; at least, the federal people who care can't do anything about it. They can't investigate. They can't arrest or prosecute. The federal government, although it probably knows who everybody is and what really happened, including what happened to Jackie, is going to let Rolling Stone take the fall for everything, as the federal government would have let Ms. Eramo take the fall for everything if she had lost.
