I didn't really have a choice about living there.
It is difficult to get housing when you're poor. It's also easy for landlords to abuse you when you're poor. It's even easier for landlords to abuse you when a lot of powerful people and organizations are telling them to do it and victim-blaming and ridiculing you for it.
I have never cared about the conglomerate's opinion of me; I do care about its criminal invasions of my privacy and its stymying of my ability to have a social life and a career.
