Probably what happened is that Jackie got syphilis from being raped, and she told "Cindy," who later lied about being the victim of a rumor.
Syphilis is easily treatable with penicillin in its early stages. Also, it's much more difficult to get syphilis from oral sex than from vaginal sex, so Jackie having told Ms. Erdely that someone gave her syphilis during the rape supports Jackie's story as it was reported by Rolling Stone.
