It was issued to me years ago; the United States government has known who I am since my birth.
These past few years have been financially difficult for me. I have tried to work and been harassed at almost every place of employment; usually, my employment is terminated due to my "false" (true) accusations of being mercilessly harassed all day, every day. 2013 was the first year of my life that I applied for cash welfare, which is how I'm able to do anything independently of a homeless shelter. It's how I pay my rent and utilities. It's how I paid for my storage unit for the two years that I was homeless after being evicted from my last apartment. It's how, this past summer, I finished paying off my state student loans from the Associate's Degree in Humanities that I earned in 2006, and it's how I paid my federal student loans every month, even while homeless, when they're not in deferment because I am attending school again for another Associate's Degree in science.
Is there an international program to issue something like a Social Security number to refugees, so that they can be part of the world even when they are living in bad situations? Could they use those numbers to have some financial assistance and also to do things like be adult, online students, and even work and contribute to the economy?
Wouldn't a centralized system for that solve a lot of problems at once?
They need indentification, and a lot of countries need for them to be identified. It would also help to organize their resettlement in their countries of origin as the conflicts in those countries resolve.
That's the address of an article that talks about the refugee need for identification. I haven't read all of it; I have class soon.
