That's the precedent that his administration set for acceptable treatment of law-abiding citizens by the American government.
The New York Times and the Boston Globe illegally hack my phone and watch me from the illegal, hidden cameras in my apartment, and I have no reason to believe that every newspaper in this picture and many other media sources don't also criminally invade my privacy every day. They can do it almost anyone, and they laugh about it.
Nothing that the world is being told by the media about invasions of people's privacy is the entire truth.
