The industry has exploited the right of free speech to avoid social progress for more than 100 years.
I think it's difficult to argue with the idea that "You can't tell us what to say." I think that a less contentious approach would be to say that the industry is a business, which it is. It is a billion-dollar business that influences people around the world. Since it is a business, it can be subject to regulations; those regulations ought to include educational requirements.
When the industry is smarter, it will do far fewer stupid and harmful things.
