How did so many women get assaulted before he got arrested?

Although Time magazine has already quoted the alleged perpetrator's lawyer twice in two days, "Keep in mind that not everything you hear is true, and that in the past few years, several grave accusations in similar cases were later proven groundless," I have yet to read an article asking if women had told the University of Wisconsin about being assaulted and the school had done nothing about it before he finally got arrested.  

This page is about a case that's been getting reported about for the last several days.  I didn't know about it until tonight; I don't have television, and I didn't read anything about it at the first page of the The New York Times's website over the past several days.

Did The New York Times ask those family members if they wanted their tragedy publicized as code for sexual abuse that the conglomerate media is remorseless about promoting?
