The millions of lyrics degrading and threatening women, and the thousands of music videos in which groups of naked or nearly naked female bodies are twisted into every possible contortion and dehumanized to make the male singers or bands seem like gods by contrast, are symptoms of what the industry thinks women's roles in society should be.
Many female singers and musicians not only don't seem to know that they are degraded, they also seem to think that equality means that women should treat men as badly as misogynist men treat women.
I don't know how it could be worse. I think that perhaps organized crime is one of the only industries whose value system is worse than the music industry's, which is probably why the music industry is fascinated by crime.
