Either Mr. Assad has to be removed from power, or the United States has to provide homes for refugees; to do neither is inhumane.

He should agree to leave; he is not a leader of the 21st century, unless the 21st century approves of despotism, which it shouldn't.

The deadlock is also unacceptable.

How are the Russian government and its cadre of thugs winning wars by threatening war?

Also; how was my suggestion of diplomacy successfully exploited by the Russian, Iranian and Syrian governments when there was bipartisan American support for the destruction of Syria's Air Force?

Greed and a lack of conscience are not supposed to be the guiding principles of international policy for anyone; neither is agreeing to be intimidated by people who do nothing but aggress whenever they can.

Dictators don't need to be negotiated with, particularly when they have killed hundreds of thousands of people; they need to be stopped.  He won't improve; he will cause years of crises, and he will hurt more people.  He has forfeited his right to negotiation.
